Family Worship (Sept 07)
God Never Stops Loving Us
Have you ever had a friend who didn’t keep their promises? Maybe they said they would sit with you at lunch or come to your birthday party, but then they didn’t. It hurts when someone you love and trust doesn’t keep their word. In the Bible, God tells us about a man named Hosea who went through something like this. God asked Hosea to marry a woman who wouldn’t keep her promises to him. She walked away from him, but Hosea still loved her. This was a picture of how God’s people, Israel, were treating Him. They were supposed to love God with all their hearts, but instead they turned away and loved other “gods.” Even though they were unfaithful, God still loved them and promised to one day bring them back. The story of Hosea shows us that God’s love is stronger than our failures.
Hosea 1:10 (NIV)
“In the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ they will be called ‘children of the living God.’”
Discussion Questions
Activity: Family Name Tags
Give everyone in the family a piece of paper or sticky note and let them write a “new name” for themselves that reminds them of who they are in Christ. Examples: “Loved by God,” “God’s Child,” “Forgiven,” “Never Alone.” Wear the name tags during dinner or family time. Talk about how God gives us a new identity because of His love.
Prayer
God, thank You that even when we make mistakes, You never stop loving us. Thank You for sending Jesus so that we can be called Your children. Help our family to love You with all our hearts and to remember who we are in You. Amen.
