Every Opportunity

A Big Moment on a Big Stage
Have you ever been called up to speak in front of your whole class or team? Maybe it was for a school play, show-and-tell, or just to answer a question. Your heart starts racing, your hands feel sweaty, and you think, “What if I mess up?”

In today’s Bible story, Paul stands in front of a king named Agrippa. He’s not at school — he’s on trial! People have been treating him unfairly, and now he’s being asked to speak. Paul could have been scared or quiet, but instead, he saw it as an opportunity to talk about Jesus.

Paul didn’t know what would happen next, but he trusted God to help him. He prayed for the right words and for courage to speak up. And guess what? God helped him — just like He can help you.

Let’s see how Paul made the most of his big moment, and how we can too.

Acts 26:22–23 (NIV)
“But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen—that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles.”

Discussion Questions
  1. What helped Paul to speak in front of King Agrippa and all those people?
  2. What is the “message of light” that Paul was talking about?
  3. Can you think of a time when you could speak about Jesus — at school, with friends, or in your neighborhood?

Activity: “Tell Your Story”
Go around in a circle and have each person share a short story about something that really happened to them — it can be funny, surprising, or meaningful. After everyone shares, talk about this question: “If you were telling someone your story about how you know Jesus, what would you say?”

Then, take a moment for each family member to say one sentence they might share if someone asked them why they believe in Jesus. You can help younger children by giving them a sentence starter like:

  • “I believe in Jesus because…”
  • “Jesus helped me when…”
  • “I know Jesus loves me because…”

Paul shared his story with King Agrippa to help him know Jesus. You don’t have to be a grown-up or a preacher to do the same. God can use your story too!

Prayer
Dear God, Thank You for helping Paul speak about Jesus, even when it was scary. Help us to be ready too — to look for open doors, speak clearly, and be brave. Give us hearts that love You and want others to know You too. Make us a family that shines Your light in the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
