Jesus Is Greater
Have you ever compared things to see which one is better—like superheroes, animals, or tools? Kids often ask, “Who is stronger?” or “Who is the best?” The book of Hebrews begins with a big comparison too. It helps us see just how great Jesus is. In Bible times, many people thought angels were the most powerful and important beings God had made. Angels are amazing—they deliver messages from God and protect his people. But Hebrews wants us to know something very important: Jesus is greater than angels.
Jesus is not just another helper God sent. He is God’s Son. He made the world. He rules over everything. And even though he is greater than all things, he chose to come close to us. He became human, suffered, and died so that we could be saved. This family worship time will help us see how great Jesus is and why trusting him matters for our everyday lives.
Hebrews 1:1–4
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
Hebrews 2:1–4
We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

Family Activity: Who Is Greater?
As a family, think of a few fun comparisons (for example: a lion vs. a house cat, a bicycle vs. a car, a flashlight vs. the sun). Talk about why one is greater or stronger than the other. Then ask: Why is Jesus greater than angels, leaders, or anything else we can think of?
Finish by having each person say one sentence starting with: “Jesus is greater than ___, so I can trust him.”
Prayer
Jesus, you are greater than all things. Thank you for loving us and coming close to save us. Help our family listen to you, trust you, and follow you every day. Amen.

5. What else did God create?
God created all things by his powerful Word, and all his creation was very good; everything flourished under his loving rule.
Memory Verse
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
