Family Worship (Jan 5)

Have you ever been given an important job to do? Maybe it was feeding the dog, cleaning your room, or helping a sibling with homework. Did you do it right away, or did you need a little help? In today’s Bible passage, Jesus gives His followers a very important job. It’s a job for all of us—grown-ups and kids alike. Jesus tells us to “Go and make disciples of all nations.” That means sharing about Jesus with people all around us—at school, at the park, in our neighborhood, or even with our family.

Discussion Questions
  1. What is the important job Jesus gave to His followers in this passage?
  2. What do you think it means to “Go” and tell others about Jesus?
  3. Why is baptism important? What does it show?
  4. How can we teach others about Jesus, even if we’re kids?
  5. How does it make you feel that Jesus promises to always be with us?

Jesus wants us to do three important things:
Go: Jesus tells us to be intentional. We don’t wait for people to come to us—we go to them and share God’s love.
Baptize: Baptism shows that someone belongs to God’s family. Jesus wants us to invite others to believe in Him and be part of His family.
Teach: Jesus wants us to help others learn to follow His commands and live like Him.

But here’s the best part: Jesus promises to always be with us. When we share about Him, when we invite people into God’s family, and when we teach others, Jesus is right there with us, helping us every step of the way.

Activity: “Mission Map”

Grab a piece of paper and draw a simple map of your neighborhood or your school. Together, as a family, write down or draw some people on your map who might not know about Jesus—neighbors, friends, or classmates. Talk about one way you can “Go” to them, “Invite” them, or “Teach” them about Jesus this week. It could be inviting them to church, saying a kind word, or sharing something about Jesus with them.

Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank You for giving us an important job to do. Help us to go to others, invite them into Your family, and teach them about You. Thank You for promising to always be with us. Give us courage and love to share Your good news this week. Amen.
