Love in Action

Imagine if love was like a superhero power that everyone could have! Just like superheroes use their powers for good, we are called to use love to make the world better. Love can be like a magic cape that gives us strength to be kind, patient, and helpful, even when things are tough. In the sermon, we talked about how love is something you do, not just something you feel. It's like when you decide to help your friend up after they fall, or when you share your toys to make someone happy. Jesus showed us the ultimate way to love when He gave His life for us on the cross. Today, we will learn how to be everyday superheroes by spreading love in everything we do, making sure it’s more than just words—it's our actions!

Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."

Discussion Questions
  1. What do you think it means to "clothe yourself" with things like kindness and patience?
  2. Can you share a time when someone showed you love through their actions? How did it make you feel?
  3. How can we be like superheroes, using love to help our family and friends every day?

Activity
Superhero Love Capes: Gather some art supplies like construction paper, markers, and stickers. Each family member can design a "Love Cape" on paper, writing or drawing ways they can show love to others. Once the designs are finished, share them with each other and pick one “superaction” to do this week, like helping with chores, sharing a favorite book, or writing a kind note. Hang these “Love Capes” somewhere in your home as a reminder of your superhero mission of love!

Prayer
Dear God, thank You for showing us what true love looks like through Jesus. Help us to put on our superhero love capes every day and use kindness, compassion, and patience in our actions. Guide us to be more like You, spreading love to everyone we meet. Amen.

Memory Work

New City Catechism
25. Does Christ’s death mean all our sins can be forgiven?
Yes, because Christ’s death on the cross fully paid the penalty for our sin, God graciously imputes Christ’s righteousness to us as if it were our own and will remember our sins no more.

Memory Verse
John 1:1
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
