Rebuilding with Love
Have you ever played Jenga? It starts as a tall tower made of wooden blocks. Everyone takes turns pulling out pieces and trying not to make it fall. But the more blocks you take out, the shakier it gets—until… CRASH! The whole thing comes down!
Families can be like that too. When we don’t love each other—when we fight, disobey, say mean things, or ignore God—it’s like we’re pulling out blocks from the tower. Little by little, the family feels less safe and more shaky. But here’s the good news: God designed families to be built on love, and when we mess up, He sent Jesus to save us.
Jesus took all our sin on the cross, like one big crash of the tower. But He didn’t stay down. He rose again to rebuild us with His love. Now, with God’s help, our families can grow strong again—one loving block at a time.
Deuteronomy 6:5–7 (NIV)
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
Discussion Questions
Activity – Jenga of Love
You’ll need a Jenga game or building blocks.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, thank You for loving us even when we mess up. We’re sorry for the ways we hurt each other. Thank You for taking our sin and giving us a new start. Please help our family grow stronger with Your love. Teach us to be kind, patient, and forgiving. We want to love You with all our heart and love each other too. Amen.
Memory Work
New City Catechism
29. How can we be saved?
Only by faith in Jesus Christ and in his substitutionary atoning death on the cross; so even though we are guilty of having disobeyed God and are still inclined to all evil, nevertheless, God, without any merit of our own but only by pure grace, imputes to us the perfect righteousness of Christ when we repent and believe in him.
Memory Verse
John 10:10 (ESV)
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

Discussion Questions
- What do you think it means to love God with all your heart, soul, and strength?
- What are some ways we forget to love each other in our family?
- How can Jesus help us rebuild our family with love when things go wrong?
Activity – Jenga of Love
You’ll need a Jenga game or building blocks.
- Step 1: Build the tower together.
- Step 2: Take turns pulling out one block. Every time someone pulls out a block, name a way we hurt our family (e.g., yelling, lying, disobeying). Keep going until the tower falls.
- Step 3: Say, “This is like our sin. It makes our family fall apart. But Jesus took all our sin on Himself.”
- Step 4: Rebuild the tower together. This time, every time you add a block, say one way we can love each other (e.g., sharing, forgiving, praying).
